Spina Bifida Association

Spina Bifida is the most frequently occurring permanently disabling birth defect.  Every day, about eigTeam Spina Bifidaht babies born in the United States have Spina Bifida or a similar birth defect of the brain and spine.  There are currently 166,000 people living with Spina Bifida in the United States.  The Spina Bifida Association (SBA), founded over 35 years ago, has existed to promote the prevention of Spina Bifida and to enhance the lives of all affected.  SBA provides education, research, advocacy and other critical services for those living with Spina Bifida and the 65 million women of child bearing years, many of whom are at risk. Team Spina Bifida encourages participants across the country to raise awareness and funds for families affected with this complex birth defect while training for and completing an endurance event like the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon.  To join Team Spina Bifida, please email Michelle Peacock at mpeacock@sbaa.org.
